SEGA  Capcom Abandoning Mature Wii Gamers?

Capcom's Resident Evil: The Dark Side Chronicles

SEGA hasn’t been the only game publisher to recently question the existence of Nintendo’s core gamer crowd. Citing disappointing sales of the Wii exclusive Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles (16,000 sold by 12/23/09), Capcom France director Antoine Seux has concluded that core gamers on Wii have “obviously moved on”. He also cited lackluster sales of  MadWorld, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop and The House of the Dead: Overkill.

In an attempt at damage control, Capcom released a statement saying “… Capcom would like to confirm its commitment as a multi-platform developer and publisher of interactive software.”

So to summarize: Wii games, yes. Core games on Wii, no. I picked a hell of a time to start blogging about core gaming on Nintendo platforms.

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles has an average score of 75 on Metacritic and as of this posting goes for around $46 on Amazon.
